Gloeoheppiaceae Henssen 1995
fungi family in the order lichinales
The Lichinaceae are a family of ascomycete fungi in the order Lichinales. Most species are lichenized with cyanobacteria, and have a distribution largely in temperate regions. In a 2024 molecular phylogenetics-informed revision, the circumscription of Lichinaceae was narrowed and the class Lichinomycetes was re‑structured into four families (three emended and one new), with many genera moved to Porocyphaceae, Phylliscaceae, or the newly erected Lichinellaceae. The family contain about 125 species in roughly 25 genera.
Coccocarpiaceae (Mont. ex K. Müller) Henssen 1986
fungi family in the order peltigerales
The Coccocarpiaceae are a family of lichen-forming in the order Peltigerales. There are three genera and about 60 species in the family. Species in this family have a widespread distribution, including boreal and austral regions.
Lichenotheliaceae Henssen 1986
fungi family in the order lichenotheliales
The Lichenotheliaceae are a family of fungi, and the only family in the order Lichenotheliales, which is in the class Dothideomycetes. The family contains three genera.
Thyrea confusa (Jelly Strap Lichen) Henssen 1990
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Thyrea confusa is a species of cyanolichen in the family Lichinaceae. The species was formally described in 1990 to provide a correct name for Mediterranean rock-dwelling lichens that had been previously misidentified under an incorrect species name. Thyrea confusa grows as dark, lobed patches on moist calcareous rock faces, typically in Mediterranean climates, and reproduces through both spores and tiny vegetative outgrowths that allow it to spread asexually. The species has a scattered but wide distribution across southern Europe, western Asia, and North America, occurring on limestone and
Psoroglaena stigonemoides (Orange) Henssen 1995
fungi species in the verrucariaceae family
Psoroglaena stigonemoides is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling) lichen in the family Verrucariaceae. It grows primarily on tree bark in humid environments throughout Great Britain, Ireland and parts of Europe. First scientifically described in 1989, it forms distinctive thread-like structures that often break into granular fragments less than a millimetre in height. The species shows a preference for elder trees but can also be found on sycamore, oak, willow and elm, typically in sheltered woodland locations with high humidity. It has a unique biological structure where its fungal
Pseudopeltula heppioides Henssen 1995
fungi species in the gloeoheppiaceae family
Pseudopeltula heppioides is a species of lichen in the family Lichinaceae. It forms small, greenish-olive, shield-shaped scales on volcanic rock. The species is distinguished by its fruiting bodies, in which the spore-producing layer (hymenium) becomes divided into many small compartments as it matures. It is known only from Baja California Sur in northwestern Mexico.
Peccania tiruncula (Nyl.) Henssen 1990
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Peccania tiruncula is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), squamulose to dwarf fruticose lichen in the family Lichinaceae. It was first described as a new species in 1878 by the Finnish lichenologist William Nylander, who classified it in the genus Omphalaria. The type specimen was collected by Johan Petter Norrlin in Biskra. Aino Henssen transferred it to the genus Peccania in 1990. In Africa, Peccania tiruncula has been recorded from Algeria, Morocco, Namibia, and the Sahara; in the Arabian Peninsula, it is found in Oman. In 2016, it was noted to occur in Turkey; collections from this
Gloeoheppia polyspora Henssen 1995
fungi species in the gloeoheppiaceae family
Gloeoheppia polyspora is a species of lichen-forming fungus in the family Lichinaceae. It forms dark olive, cushion-like patches of small scales on rock in arid shrubland. The species is distinguished from related lichens by its asci, which typically contain 16 ascospores rather than the usual 8. It occurs in Mexico, the southwestern United States, and Argentina.

Stromatella Henssen 1989

Pseudopeltula Henssen 1995
fungi genus in the gloeoheppiaceae family
Pseudopeltula is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Lichinaceae. Established in 1995 by the lichenologist Aino Henssen, the genus currently includes four recognised species. These small cyanolichens are characterised by their squamulose (scaly) to peltate (shield-shaped) thalli, which lack a lower cortex and are attached to the substrate by rhizines. A key feature of Pseudopeltula is its complex apothecia (fruiting bodies), which have hymenia that often become divided by sterile tissue as they mature. The genus is primarily found in arid and semi-arid regions of North America,
