Leucopholiota decorosa (Decorated Pholiota) (Peck) O.K. Mill., T.J. Volk & Bessette 1996
edible fungi species in the order agaricales
Leucopholiota decorosa is a species of fungus in the mushroom family Squamanitaceae. It is commonly known as the decorated pholiota. It was first described by American mycologist Charles Horton Peck as Agaricus decorosus in 1873, and the species has been transferred to several genera in its history, including Tricholoma, Tricholomopsis, Armillaria, and Floccularia. Three American mycologists considered the species unique enough to warrant its own genus, and transferred it into the new genus Leucopholiota in a 1996 publication. It is distinguished by its fruit body which is covered with

fungi species in the callistosporiaceae family
Callistosporium purpureomarginatum is a species of agaric fungus in the family Callistosporiaceae. Found in the United States, it was officially described in 1996.
Leucopholiota (Romagn.) O.K. Mill., T.J. Volk & Bessette 1996
fungi genus
Leucopholiota is a genus of fungi in the family Squamanitaceae. Basidiocarps (fruit bodies) are agarics (gilled mushrooms}. Two species are currently known, both from north temperate areas: Leucopholiota decorosa and Leucopholiota lignicola.
Tylopilus variobrunneus (Brown-net Bolete) Roody, A.R. Bessette & Bessette 1998
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Tylopilus variobrunneus is a bolete fungus in the family Boletaceae native to the United States. It was described as new to science in 1998.
Boletus subcaerulescens (Almost Bluing King Bolete) (E.A. Dick & Snell) Both, Bessette & A.R. Bessette 2000
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Boletus subcaerulescens is a basidiomycete fungus of the genus Boletus found in northeastern North America. The fruiting bodies are found associated with pine and spruce. The cap is up to 18 cm wide, convex to flat, and brown in color. The tubes are yellow and stain blue (later becoming brown) when bruised, while the flesh is white to buff and does not stain when cut. The stem is brown like the cap and has a light-colored reticulate texture. The specific epithet is from Latin: sub- + caeruleus + -escens, literally "becoming dark blue beneath". Phylogenetic analysis has shown B.
Boletus carminiporus Bessette, Both & Dunaway 1998
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Boletus carminiporus is a species of bolete fungus in the family Boletaceae. Described as new to science in 1998, the species is found in the southern United States where it grows in a mycorrhizal association with various trees in mixed forests.

Aureoboletus innixus (Clustered Brown Bolete) (Frost) Halling, A.R. Bessette & Bessette 2015
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Aureoboletus innixus is a species of bolete fungus in the family Boletaceae. Found in eastern North America, it was first described scientifically by Charles Christopher Frost in 1874, from collections made in New England. An edible mushroom, the convex cap grows to 3–8 cm (1.2–3.1 in) wide and is dull reddish brown to yellow brown. The stem is 3–6 cm (1.2–2.4 in) long by 1–1.6 cm (0.4–0.6 in) thick, but often swollen at the apex with a tapered base. It has a bright yellow pore surface when young that dulls in color when mature. There are about 1 to 3 pores per mm when young, but they expand
Boletus patrioticus T.J. Baroni, Bessette & Roody 1998
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Boletus patrioticus, also known as the patriotic bolete is a basidiomycete mushroom, of the genus Boletus in the family Boletaceae. Its name comes from its coloration (red skin, white flesh, blue bruising) resembling the flag of the United States. It is edible.

Boletus roseolateritius Bessette, Both & Dunaway 2003
fungi species in the boletaceae family
Boletus roseolateritius is a bolete fungus found in the southern United States and northeast Mexico. It was described as a new species in 2003 by Alan Bessette, Ernst Both, and Dail Dunaway. The type collection was made in Mississippi, where it was found growing on the ground under American beech (Fagus grandifolia), near hickory and oak. The bolete was reported from a Mexican beech (Fagus mexicana) forest in Hidalgo, Mexico in 2010. The fruit body has a cap that changes color depending on its age: it is initially dark reddish to orangish, later reddish brown at maturity, fading to brownish
