Protopannaria campbellensis Øvstedal & Fryday 2011
fungi species in the pannariaceae family
Protopannaria campbellensis is a rare species of lichen in the family Pannariaceae. It is found in the southern New Zealand shelf islands. It is unique due to its specific structure and lack of lichen products, which are typically found in related species. The lichen is found in wet grasslands and upland peat bogs.
Pertusaria stellata Fryday 2008
fungi species in the pertusariaceae family
Pertusaria stellata is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling) crustose lichen in the family Pertusariaceae. Described in 2008 from specimens collected on Auckland Island and in southern Chile, this species is distinguished by its creamy white to pale grey crust and distinctive blood-red, star-shaped structures (cephalodia) embedded in its surface. It is closely related to Pertusaria macloviana but differs in having larger spore-producing structures, longer spores, and the presence of these characteristic red cephalodia. The species is known only from subantarctic islands south of New Zealand

Fuscidea appalachensis Fryday 2008
fungi species in the fuscideaceae family
Fuscidea appalachensis is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling) lichen in the family Fuscideaceae. Found in North America, it was formally described as a new species in 2008 by lichenologist Alan Fryday. The type specimen was collected from top of Tabor Gully in Baxter State Park (Maine) at an elevation of 1,415 m (4,642 ft). Here it was found growing on damp rocks on the side of the gully. The pale grey crustose thalli of Fuscidea appalachensis are 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 in) in diameter, although neighbouring lichens may coalesce to form larger thalli. The lichen contains divaricatic acid, a
Ameliella Fryday & Coppins 2008
fungi genus in the lecanoraceae family
Ameliella is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Lecanoraceae. Described in 2008, the genus contains two species, A. andreaeicola and A. grisea, that were collected from high elevations in the Scottish Highlands. The two species have also been found in single instances in British Columbia and Northern Norway. The generic name is derived from the Greek ameleo, meaning "neglected" or "overlooked"; it was originally intended to be Amelia, which is also the first name of the daughter of one of the authors, but this name had previously been used for another genus and was therefore ineligible

Schaereria porpidioides Fryday & Common 2001
fungi species in the schaereriaceae family
Schaereria porpidioides is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), crustose lichen in the family Schaereriaceae. It is found in the Falkland Islands.

Rhizocarpon timdalii Ihlen & Fryday 2002
fungi species in the rhizocarpaceae family
Rhizocarpon timdalii is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), crustose lichen in the family Rhizocarpaceae. Identified and described as a new species in 2002, this lichen is characterized by its brown thallus composed of convex areoles. It occurs in Europe and North America.
Porpidia striata Fryday 2005
fungi species in the lecideaceae family
Porpidia striata is a species of crustose lichen-forming fungus in the family Lecideaceae. Found in Great Britain, it was described as a new species in 2005 by Alan Fryday. The holotype was collected by Fryday on 24 March 1991 in Scotland—specifically Caledonia (V.C. 88), Mid Perthshire, Meall nan Subh. It was gathered from schistose stone embedded in montane heath.
Porpidia pachythallina Fryday 2005
fungi species in the lecideaceae family
Porpidia pachythallina is a species of rock-dwelling, crustose lichen-forming fungus in the family Lecideaceae. Found in Great Britain, it was described as a new species in 2005 by Alan Fryday. The type specimen (holotype) was collected in Scotland (United Kingdom), in Mid Perthshire (vice-county 88) within Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve, at Burn of Edramucky. It was found growing on an acidic mica-schist boulder.
Porpidia islandica Fryday 2005
fungi species in the lecideaceae family
Porpidia islandica is a species of crustose lichen-forming fungus in the family Lecideaceae. Found in Iceland and Scotland, it was described as a new to science in 2005. The holotype specimen was collected in Iceland by Hertel on 20 July 1979 (collector's no. 23061). The stated locality is in Austur-Barðastrandarsýsla, at Ólafsdalur, where it was found on rock. The habitat is described as chiefly north-east-facing slopes close to the valley floor above the Lambadalsá stream, including scree slopes and scree-covered terraces.
Porpidia flavocruenta Fryday & Buschbom 2005
fungi species in the lecideaceae family
Porpidia flavocruenta is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling) crustose lichen in the family Lecideaceae. The species forms a bright orange to yellow crust on rock surfaces and is particularly distinctive because of its characteristically black fruiting bodies that often have a greyish or orange dusting on their surface. It grows in cool, damp upland habitats on siliceous rocks, typically in shaded locations such as rock overhangs and cliff faces where moisture levels remain high throughout the year. Although it was only formally described in 2005, earlier specimens from across northern

Found in the United States, it was formally described as a new species in 2008 by lichenologist Alan Fryday. The type specimen was collected by Clifford Wetmore from the north slope of Emory Peak in Big Bend National Park (Texas) at an elevation of 6,300 ft (1,900 m). The pale pinkish-grey areolate thalli of Fuscidea texana are up to 5 cm (2 in) in diameter, and have a distinct margin. Its ascospores are thick-walled and measure 8–9 by 4.5–5.5 μm. The lichen contains norstictic acid, a
