German botanist (1800–1888).

David Nathaniel Friedrich Dietrich (3 October 1800 – 23 December 1888) was a German botanist and gardener. Dietrich's birth year is listed as 1799 and 1800. He was born in Ziegenhain. In 1828 Dietrich worked as a botanical gardener in Jena. In 1836 he received his doctorate at the University of Jena, and later served as a curator at the botanical garden in Jena. He was the nephew of the botanist Friedrich Gottlieb Dietrich (1765–1850). Dietrich wrote pamphlets on poisonous plants, mosses, and forest flora and fauna of Germany as well as several botanical encyclopedias. His five-volume, 1839-18
