Agaricus bisporus (Cultivated Mushroom) (J.E. Lange) Imbach 1946
edible fungi species in the agaricaceae family
Agaricus bisporus, commonly known as the cultivated mushroom, is a basidiomycete mushroom native to grasslands in Eurasia and North America. It is cultivated in more than 70 countries and is one of the most commonly and widely consumed mushrooms in the world. It has two color states while immature – white and brown – both of which have various names, with additional names for the mature state, such as chestnut, portobello, portabellini, button, cremini, and champignon de Paris (see Names below). Some poisonous lookalikes in the wild, such as Entoloma sinuatum, may appear similar. Agaricus
Squamanita Imbach 1946
fungi genus in the tricholomataceae family
Squamanita is a genus of parasitic fungi in the family Squamanitaceae. Basidiocarps (fruit bodies) superficially resemble normal agarics (gilled mushrooms) but emerge from parasitized fruit bodies of deformed host agarics.
Squamanita schreieri Imbach 1946
endangered fungi species in the tricholomataceae family
Squamanita schreieri is a species of fungus in the order Agaricales and the type species of the genus Squamanita. It is parasitic on basidiocarps (fruit bodies] of the ectomycorrhizal fungi Amanita solitaria and A. strobiliformis, replacing their caps with its own. The species was first described scientifically by Swiss mycologist Emil J. Imbach in 1946. It is only known from a few sites in central mainland Europe and threats to its habitat (hardwood forests) have resulted in the species being assessed as globally "endangered" on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
