Fusarium circinatum (Pine Pitch Canker) Nirenberg & O'Donnell 1998
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium circinatum is a fungal plant pathogen that causes the serious disease pitch canker on pine trees and Douglas firs (Pseudotsuga menziesii). The most common hosts of the pathogen include slash pine (Pinus elliottii), loblolly pine (Pinus taeda), Monterey pine (Pinus radiata), Mexican weeping pine (Pinus patula), and Douglas fir. Like other Fusarium species in the phylum Ascomycota, it is the asexual reproductive state of the fungus and has a teleomorph, Gibberella circinata.
Fusarium venenatum Nirenberg 1995
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium venenatum is a microfungus of the genus Fusarium that has a high protein content. One of its strains is used commercially for the production of the single cell protein mycoprotein Quorn. Fusarium venenatum was discovered growing in soil in Buckinghamshire in the United Kingdom, in 1967 by ICI as part of the effort during the 1960s to find alternative sources of food to fill the protein gap caused by the growing world population. It was originally misidentified as Fusarium graminearum. The strain Fusarium venenatum A3/5 (IMI 145425, ATCC PTA-2684) was developed commercially by an ICI
Trichoderma asperellum Samuels, Lieckf. & Nirenberg 1999
fungi species in the hypocreaceae family
Trichoderma asperellum Samuels, Lieckf & Nirenberg is a species of fungus in the family Hypocreaceae. It can be distinguished from T. viride by molecular and phenotypic characteristics. The most important molecular characteristics are divergent ITS-1 and 28S sequences and RFLP's of the endochitinase gene. Main phenotypic characters are conidial ornamentation and arrangement and branching of the conidiophores.
Fusarium proliferatum (Fusarium Proliferatum Ex) (Matsush.) Nirenberg ex Gerlach & Nirenberg 1982
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium proliferatum is a fungal plant pathogen infecting crops and also can affect humans as well. It has a worldwide distribution and has been associated with a variety of diseases in important economical crop plants, such as corn and bananas. It can cause a disseminated infection in immunocompromised patients, The fungus can also cause an abscesses within the body where the trauma or damage is caused by a plant, such as Onychomycosis (nail infections). The fungus was discovered in 2003 as an agent that can cause Fusarium keratitis when found within a contact lens preservation solution.
Penicillium virgatum Nirenberg & Kwaśna 2005
fungi species in the aspergillaceae family
Penicillium vinaceum is a species of fungus in the genus Penicillium which was isolated from soil of a soybean field in New Caledonia.
Haematonectria Samuels & Nirenberg 1999
fungi genus in the nectriaceae family
Haematonectria is a genus of fungi in the family Nectriaceae.
Fusarium pseudoanthophilum Nirenberg, O'Donnell & Mubat. 1998
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium pseudoanthophilum is a species of fungus in the family Nectriaceae. It was first described by Kerry O'Donnell and Jürgen Kroschel in 1998 as Fusarium brevicatenulatum. It was then listed as a synonym of F. brevicatenulatum by Amata and colleagues in 2010, who confirmed the species are the same through sexual compatibility tests. As of April 2024, Index Fungorum does not recognize the proposed synonymy. The original 1998 publication included both F. brevicatenulatum and F. pseudoanthophilum. No information was found to locate a type specimen of the species. Research papers noted that
Fusarium acutatum Nirenberg & O'Donnell 2021
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium acutatum is a fungus species of the genus Fusarium. Fusarium acutatum can cause gangrenous necrosis on the feet from diabetic patients. Fusarium acutatum produces fumonisin B1, fumonisin B2, fumonisin B3 and 8-O-Methyl-fusarubin.

Fusarium langsethiae Torp & Nirenberg 2004
fungi species in the nectriaceae family
Fusarium langsethiae is a species of fungus in the family Nectriaceae. It is a suspected plant pathogen. This species was isolated from oats, wheat and barley kernels in several European countries. It resembles Fusarium poae, from which it differs by slower growth, less aerial mycelium and absence of odour. Its turnip-shaped or spherical conidia are borne in the aerial mycelium, whereas those of F. poae are produced on straight monophialides mostly in the aerial mycelium. It does not produce sporodochial conidia.
