Annulohypoxylon Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers & H.M. Hsieh 2005
fungi genus in the hypoxylaceae family
Annulohypoxylon, sometimes called cramp balls, is a genus of fungi in the family Xylariaceae. The 27 species in the genus have a collectively widespread distribution. The genus Annulohypoxylon was created in 2005 and contains species formerly placed in the closely related genus Hypoxylon (it is equivalent to Hypoxylon section Annulata sensu). Fossils of Annulohypoxylon have been found in 12 million year old rocks from central England.
Penicillium ulaiense (Citrus Whisker Mold) H.M. Hsieh, H.J. Su & Tzean 1987
fungi species in the aspergillaceae family
Penicillium ulaiense is a plant pathogen that causes whisker mould. It is considered an important infection of citrus fruit, especially in packinghouses. P. ulaiense is a citrus postharvest pathogenic fungus described as a member of the serie Italica, together with P. italicum. In 1987, mycologists in Taiwan published a description of P. ulaiense. Authors familiar with green and blue moulds of citrus had mistaken the fungus for P. italicum and dismissed its unique features as variations due to particular environmental conditions. To date, P. ulaiense has been reported in Argentina, Arizona,
Annulohypoxylon thouarsianum (Cramp Balls) (Lév.) Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers & H.M. Hsieh 2005
fungi species in the hypoxylaceae family
Annulohypoxylon thouarsianum is a species of ascomycete fungus.
Amphirosellinia Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers, H.M. Hsieh & Lar.N. Vassiljeva 2005
fungi genus in the xylariaceae family
Amphirosellinia is a genus of five species of fungi in the family Xylariaceae. It was circumscribed in 2004 with A. nigrospora as the type species. The genus name refers to the similarities in morphology it shares with the genus Rosellinia. Amphirosellinia species grow inside the bark of dicot trees, forming stromata (dense structural tissue) encased by black, carbonized perithecia. The ascospores are brown and ellipsoid to cylindrical in shape. The anamorph forms of Amphirosellinia have geniculate (zig-zag) conidiogenous regions.
Penicillium formosanum H.M. Hsieh, H.J. Su & Tzean 1987
fungi species in the aspergillaceae family
Penicillium formosanum is a species of the genus of Penicillium which produces patulin and asteltoxin.

Annulohypoxylon archeri (Berk.) Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers & H.M. Hsieh 2005
fungi species in the hypoxylaceae family
Annulohypoxylon archeri (formerly Hypoxylon archeri) is a saprophytic fungus species. It was moved from the genus Hypoxylon into the genus Annulohypoxylon erected in 2005 by Hsieh, Ju and Rogers. A. archeri is commonly used in the cultivation of Tremella fuciformis - one of the foremost medicinal and culinary fungi of China and Taiwan. Tremella fuciformis is a parasitic yeast that does not form an edible fruitbody without parasitizing another fungus. Annulohypoxylon archeri is its preferred host, so cultivators usually pair cultures of Tremella fuciformis with this species, or others in the
Annulohypoxylon annulatum (Schwein.) Y.M. Ju, J.D. Rogers & H.M. Hsieh 2005
fungi species in the hypoxylaceae family
Annulohypoxylon annulatum is a pyrenomycete, a carbonaceous fungus that produces its ascospores in perithecia (flask shaped container), and then shoots them out through an opening called the ostiole. Annulohypoxylon was derived from the original genus Hypoxylon in 2005 and is distinguished by their flat, disk-like rings encircling the ostioles (hence the annulo- prefix). The stromata (fruiting bodies) of A. annulatum are semi-globose to cushion-like and are black in color. They are covered in ostioles (pimple-like in appearance) surrounded by a flat disc area. A hand lens may be needed in
