Calogaya saxicola (Rock Jewel Lichen) (Hoffm.) Vondrák 2016
fungi species in the teloschistaceae family
Caloplaca saxicola is a small bright orange crustose lichen that grows on rock all over the world. It is commonly called rock firedot lichen, jewel lichen or rock jewel lichen. It has short, inflated looking elongate 1–2 mm and .3-.1 mm wide lobes that have an abrupt margin at the edge, and no prothallus. It lacks isidia or soredia. Apothecia may be immersed in the thallus or adnate to it, with rims of thallus-like tissue (lecanorine) with orange, flat, .4–1 mm wide epruinose discs. Aptohecia develop near the lobe tips. C. ignea and C. impolita are similar but bigger, and have apothecia that

Caloplaca sterilis Šoun, Khodos. & Vondrák 2011
fungi species in the teloschistaceae family
Caloplaca sterilis is a corticolous (bark-dwelling), crustose lichen belonging to the family Teloschistaceae, described in 2011. It is primarily found in steppe and sand dune habitats in the Black Sea region, and has been recorded from Bulgaria, Romania, southwest Russia, and Ukraine. Caloplaca sterilis is characterised by tiny squamules/areoles with contrasting pale greyish-green to greenish soredia. It is easily overlooked and challenging to identify when completely sorediate and sterile (i.e., without any apothecia), especially as its soredia do not contain the typical Sedifolia-grey
Sanguineodiscus I.V. Frolov & Vondrák 2020
fungi genus in the teloschistaceae family
Sanguineodiscus is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Teloschistaceae. It is characterized by its deep red apothecial discs, found predominantly in the Mediterranean basin, Central Asia, Northern Africa, and Europe. This genus comprises both saxicolous (growing on rocks) and corticolous (growing on tree bark) species, which are found in various habitats, such as inland rain-sheltered base-rich siliceous rocks, seashore siliceous rocks, and calcareous outcrops in Central Asia. Sanguineodiscus, established in 2023, contains four recognized species, but it is believed that the genus

fungi species in the phaeococcomycetaceae family
Lichenostigma svandae is a species of lichenicolous (lichen-dwelling) fungus in the family Phaeococcomycetaceae. This microscopic parasitic fungus appears as soot-grey flecks on its host lichen species Acarospora cervina, forming dark, net-like strands of fungal threads that anchor themselves to the lichen surface with short root-like offshoots. Described as new to science in 2007 from specimens collected in Crimea, it is known from sun-exposed limestone outcrops in Europe and southwestern Asia.
