Cortinarius fuscobovinus is an uncommon agaric fungus in the large family Cortinariaceae. that was formally described in 2013. It features a greyish-yellow-brown to dark brown cap measuring 5–10 centimetres in diameter, pale brown gills that mature to chocolate brown, and a whitish stipe that quickly turns brown with age. The species fruits from mid-August to mid-September in mature coniferous forests on lime-rich soils throughout northern Europe's boreal zone, primarily in well-preserved natural woodlands and protected reserves, where it is classified as near-threatened in Finland.

Originally named Cortinarius phoeniceus var. occidentalis by American mycologist Alexander H. Smith in 1939, it was renamed to honor Smith in 2012, after molecular analysis revealed that it was genetically different from Cortinarius phoeniceus. It is found in North America. Cortinarius oulankaensis is an agaric fungus in the family Cortinariaceae, first described in 2013. The fungus features a grey-brown to dark brown cap measuring 4–10 centimetres across, pale grey-brown gills that darken with maturity, and a club-shaped stipe with whitish fibres that turn brown over time. It grows in late September in coniferous forests on lime-rich soils primarily in northern Europe, particularly in Finland's Oulanka National Park and near Steinkjer, Norway, though environmental DNA evidence suggests it may also occur in British Columbia, Canada.

The species was first described in 2020, and was named in honour of the mycologist A. Martyn Ainsworth. Along with five other British webcaps, C. ainsworthii was selected by Kew Gardens as a highlight of taxa described by the organisation's staff and affiliates in 2020.
