Mucoromyceta is a subkingdom of fungi which includes the divisions Calcarisporiellomycota, Glomeromycota, Mortierellomycota and Mucoromycota. This enormous group includes almost all molds. Sources published prior to Tedersoo et al. 2018 refer to this taxon as a phylum Mucoromycota, with three subphyla. In a 2016 study using this older treatement of "Mucoromycota" equivalent to current Mucoromyceta, the group appears as sister to Dikarya. Informally known as zygomycetes I, Mucoromyceta includes Mucoromycotina, Mortierellomycotina, and Glomeromycotina, and consists of mainly mycorrhizal fungi,

Kickxellomycotina are a fungus grouping in the subkingdom of Zoopagomyceta Benny, 2007. The name was changed from "Harpellomycotina", because "Kickxellomycotina" had an older stem. It came from the genus Kickxella, named after Jean Kickx. Orders include Asellariales, Kickxellales, Dimargaritales, and Harpellales.

Zoopagomyceta is a subkingdom of fungi proposed in 2018. It is equivalent to the phylum Zoopagomycota M.E. Smith, Spatafora & Stajich in the original sense proposed in 2016.

Rozellomyceta is a subkingdom in the kingdom Fungi. In the consensus accepted by fungus researchers as of 2024, it contains only the Rozellomycota, which in turn contains Microsporidia as a class. An earlier view by fungus researchers divides it into two phyla, the Rozellomycota and Microsporidia as a phylum. A more fitting name for Microsporidia as a phylum could be Microsporidiomycota Benny 2007. This is no longer done because "recent phylogenies indicate that Microsporidia are deeply nested within Rozellomycota". Protistologists do not agree with the assignment of this subkingdom as fungi,

The Basidiobolaceae are a family of fungi in the monotypic order Basidiobolales. All fungal cells of this family are exclusively uninucleate and their relatively large nuclei contain a nucleolus, but no heterochromatin. They were formerly in the order Entomophthorales.
