Lichinella granulosa M. Schultz 2005
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Lichinella granulosa is a species of rock-dwelling lichen-forming fungus in the family Lichinellaceae. It is a small, blackish, crust-forming lichen that grows on various rock types in desert and woodland habitats of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Its algal partner is a cyanobacterium rather than a green alga, and the thallus surface bears distinctive granular outgrowths that may serve as vegetative dispersal units. The species was described in 2005 and is reported as very common in Arizona, though it is easily overlooked when not fertile.
Gloeoheppia squamulosa (Zahlbr.) M. Schultz 2007
fungi species in the gloeoheppiaceae family
Gloeoheppia squamulosa is a species of cyanolichen in the family Lichinaceae. It forms small, dark olive-brown, shield-shaped scales on bare soil and thin soil over rock in arid habitats. The species was originally described in 1902 as Psorotichia squamulosa and was transferred to Gloeoheppia in 2007 based on its growth form and ecology. It occurs in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, from low desert to montane woodland.

Lempholemma polycarpum M. Schultz 2005
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Pycnolemma is a fungal genus in the family Lichinaceae. It contains the single species Pycnolemma polycarpum, a rock-dwelling, gelatinous lichen. The genus was proposed in 2024 when molecular studies showed that the species did not belong in its former genus Lempholemma, but instead formed a distinct evolutionary lineage within the Lichinaceae. Pycnolemma polycarpum forms small, blackish rosettes on limestone rocks in tropical dry forests and is distinguished by pycnoascocarps, in which ascocarps develop from ascogonia beneath pycnidia. The species has a scattered distribution across tropical
Lempholemma corticola M. Schultz & T. Sprib. 2011
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Lempholemma corticola is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling) crustose lichen in the family Lecanoraceae. It occurs in Greece.
Heppia arenacea M. Schultz 2005
fungi species in the lichinaceae family
Heppia arenacea is a species of terricolous (ground-dwelling) lichen in the family Lichinaceae. Discovered in Yemen, it is characterized by its sand-coloured thallus and the incorporation of soil particles throughout its vegetative (i.e., non-reproductive) parts. The lichen is found in soil crust communities over limestone and basaltic rock in desert habitats, as well as in partially sheltered areas between large boulders.

fungi genus in the lichinaceae family
Pseudopaulia is a genus of lichenized fungi within the family Lichinaceae. This is a monotypic genus, containing the single species Pseudopaulia tessellata.
Peltula lobata J. Marques, M. Schultz & Paz-Berm. 2013
fungi species in the peltulaceae family
Peltula lobata is a species of foliose and saxicolous (rock-dwelling) lichen in the family Peltulaceae. Formally described in 2013, this lichen typically colonises vertical, sun-exposed rock crevices along riverbanks and periodically submerged surfaces in temporary riverbeds. The species grows primarily on schist, quartzite, and granite substrates, and forms large, conspicuous brown patches at relatively low elevations. Originally documented in northeastern Portugal, it has also been recorded at two sites in Spain. P. lobata grows in Mediterranean environments characterised by sub-humid to

Lichinodiales M. Prieto, M. Schultz, Olariaga & Wedin 2018
fungi order in the class leotiomycetes
Lichinodium is a genus of filamentous lichens. It is the only genus in the family Lichinodiaceae, itself the only member of the order Lichinodiales. Lichinodium has four species. Previously considered part of the class Lichinomycetes, molecular phylogenetic analysis revealed that Lichinodium represents a unique lineage in the Leotiomycetes—the first known group of lichen-forming fungi in this class.

Pseudopeltula necrocorticata Büdel & M. Schultz 2011
fungi species in the gloeoheppiaceae family
Pseudopeltula necrocorticata is a species of cyanolichen in the family Lichinaceae. It forms small, yellowish-olive, scale-like lobes up to about 3.5 mm across on rock and gravel in desert habitats. The species is unusual in having a surface layer formed partly from dead cyanobacterial cells, which gives rise to its name. It is known from the Sonoran Desert region of northwestern Mexico, where it may be overlooked because it resembles small species of Peltula.
