Geosmithia morbida (Thousand Cankers Disease Of Walnut) M. Kolařík, Freeland, C. Utley & Tisserat 2010
fungi species
Geosmithia morbida is a mitosporic ascomycete fungus belonging to the order Hypocreales and the family Bionectriaceae. This fungus is recognized as the causal agent of Thousand Cankers Disease (TCD), a significant threat to walnut trees. The disease derives its name from the multitude of coalescing cortical cankers that develop around the entrance holes created by its insect vector, the walnut twig beetle (Pityophthorus juglandis). The relationship between Geosmithia morbida and Pityophthorus juglandis is symbiotic, with the beetle carrying the fungal conidia on its body and introducing them
Aspergillus waksmanii Hubka, S.W. Peterson, Frisvad & M. Kolařík 2013
fungi species in the aspergillaceae family
Aspergillus waksmanii is a homothallic species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus which has been isolated from soil from New Jersey in the United States. It is from the Fumigati section. Several fungi from this section produce heat-resistant ascospores, and the isolates from this section are frequently obtained from locations where natural fires have previously occurred. Aspergillus waksmanii produces apolar indoloterpenes.
Aspergillus spinulosporus Hubka, S.W. Peterson & M. Kolařík 2016
fungi species in the aspergillaceae family
Aspergillus spinulosporus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus. It is from the Nidulantes section. It was first described in 2016. It has been reported to produce asperthecin, echinocandin B1, desferritriacetylfusigen, and sterigmatocystin. In 2016, the genome of A. spinulosporus was, under the name A. neoechinulatus, sequenced as a part of the Aspergillus whole-genome sequencing project - a project dedicated to performing whole-genome sequencing of all members of the genus Aspergillus. The genome assembly size was 30.67 Mbp.
