Fuscopannaria (Mouse Lichens) P.M. Jørg. 1994
fungi genus in the pannariaceae family
Fuscopannaria is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Pannariaceae. It has about 50 species. The genus was established in 1994 by the Norwegian lichenologist Per Magnus Jørgensen to accommodate a group of squamulose and crustose lichens that are widespread across temperate and tropical regions. Members of the genus are typically found on tree bark in moist, shaded habitats, ranging from tropical rainforests to temperate woodlands, where they appear as small, greyish or dark crusty or scaly patches on trunks and branches.
Topelia P.M. Jørg. & Vězda 1984
fungi genus in the stictidaceae family
Topelia is a genus of fungi within the family Stictidaceae. The genus name of Topelia is an anagram in honour of Josef Poelt (1924-1995), who was a German-Austrian botanist (Bryology, Mycology and Lichenology) and was Professor of Systematic Botany at the Free University of Berlin in 1965. The genus was circumscribed by Per Magnus Jørgensen and Antonin Vězda in Nova Hedwigia Beih. vol.79 on page 502 in 1984.
Massalongiaceae Wedin, P.M. Jørg. & E. Wiklund 2007
fungi family in the order peltigerales
Massalongiaceae is a small family of lichen-forming fungi in the order Peltigerales. It has three genera and seven species. Species in this family have cyanobacteria as their primary symbiotic partner (cyanobiont), so they belong to the group known as "cyanobacterial lichens".
Protopannaria pezizoides (Brown-gray Moss-shingle Lichen) (Weber) P.M. Jørg. & S. Ekman 2000
fungi species in the pannariaceae family
Protopannaria pezizoides, the gray moss-shingle, is a species of squamulose lichen in the family Pannariaceae. It was first described scientifically by the German botanist Georg Heinrich Weber in 1778. It has a long and complex taxonomic history, and has an extensive synonymy. It was transferred to the genus Protopannaria by Per Magnus Jørgensen and Stefan Ekman in 2000; it was assigned as the type species of the genus. Protopannaria pezizoides is widespread, with a continental distribution that includes Africa, Asia, North America, and Oceania. The lichen thrives in moist and/or humid
Protopannaria (Gyeln.) P.M. Jørg. & S. Ekman 2000
fungi genus in the pannariaceae family
Protopannaria is a genus of seven species of lichen-forming fungi in the family Pannariaceae. The genus was elevated from a subgenus of Pannaria to full genus status in 2000. Protopannaria lichens typically grow as small, overlapping patches on mossy tree trunks and branches in humid, old-growth forests. The genus is primarily distributed in subantarctic and temperate regions of the Southern Hemisphere.

Fuscopannaria leucosticta (Rimmed Shingle Lichen) (Tuck. ex E. Michener) P.M. Jørg. 1994
fungi species in the pannariaceae family
Fuscopannaria leucosticta, commonly known as the rimmed shingle lichen, is a species of lichen in the family Pannariaceae. It has a squamulose (scaley) thallus that lacks soredia and isidia (vegetative propagules), but has abundant apothecia (spore-bearing structures) with distinct white rims. Although its main centres of distribution are eastern North America and southeast Asia, where it grows in damp forests, it has been reported from various other high-altitude, humid locations.
Fuscoderma (D.J. Galloway & P.M. Jørg.) P.M. Jørg. & D.J. Galloway 1989
fungi genus in the pannariaceae family
Fuscoderma is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Pannariaceae. It was originally circumscribed as a subgenus of the genus Leioderma by David Galloway and Per Magnus Jørgensen in 1987. The same authors promoted it to generic status a couple of years later in 1989. The New Guinean species F. papuanum was added to the genus in 2002.
Vahliella saubinetii (Pink-eyed Shingle Lichen) (Mont.) P.M. Jørg. 2008
fungi species in the vahliellaceae family
Vahliella saubinetii is a species of squamulose lichen in the family Vahliellaceae.
Vahliella hookerioides (P.M. Jørg.) P.M. Jørg. 2008
fungi species in the vahliellaceae family
Vahliella hookerioides is a species of squamulose lichen in the family Vahliellaceae. It was first formally described in 2000 by the Norwegian lichenologist Per Magnus Jørgensen, who classified it as a member of Fuscopannaria. The type specimen was collected from Endovalley in Colorado, US. It is similar in morphology to V. leucophaea but has blackich apothecia, a more robust thalline margin, and smaller, more rounded spores. Jørgensen transferred the taxon to the new genus Vahliella in 2008.
Vahliella californica (Tuck.) P.M. Jørg. 2008
fungi species in the vahliellaceae family
Vahliella californica is a species of squamulose lichen in the family Vahliellaceae. It was first described as new to science in 1882 by the American lichenologist Edward Tuckerman, who classified it as a form of the species Pannaria microphylla. He described it as a "coarser" form than the regular version, with wider spores. The type locality, California, is reflected in the species epithet. The Norwegian lichenologist Per Magnus Jørgensen promoted the taxon to species status in 2000. In 2008, he transferred it to the newly created genus Vahliella.
Vahliella atlantica (P.M. Jørg. & P. James) P.M. Jørg. 2008
fungi species in the vahliellaceae family
Vahliella atlantica is a species of squamulose lichen in the family Vahliellaceae. It was first scientifically described as a new species in 2005 by the lichenologists Per Magnus Jørgensen and Peter Wilfred James, who classified it as a member of Fuscopannaria. The type specimen was collected by James from Santa Maria Island in the Azores. Jørgensen transferred the taxon to the new genus Vahliella in 2008.

Acantholichen P.M. Jørg. 1998
fungi genus in the hygrophoraceae family
Acantholichen is a genus of basidiolichen-forming fungus species in the family Hygrophoraceae. The genus was established in 1998 by the Per Magnus Jørgensen based on a single species from Costa Rica, but has since grown to include seven recognized species found across Central and South America. These lichens form crusts made of tiny, scale-like flaps that give them a finely granular appearance, quite different from the thread-like growth of their close relatives. Acantholichen species partner with blue-green bacteria to create their living structures, using specialized fungal pegs to exchange
Vahliellaceae (Vahliella) Wedin, P.M. Jørg. & S. Ekman 2010
fungi family in the order peltigerales
Vahliella is a genus of nine species of lichen-forming fungi in the order Peltigerales. It is the only member of Vahliellaceae, a family circumscribed in 2010 to contain this genus. Vahliella was formerly placed in the family Pannariaceae until molecular phylogenetics showed that it did not belong there. Vahliella species are found in the Northern Hemisphere – mainly in North America, but also in Europe and India. Vahliella species somewhat resemble those of the genus Fuscopannaria – in which they were originally classified – but are distinguished from them by the layered apical amyloid
