Psilocybe makarorae is a species of psilocybin mushroom in the family Hymenogastraceae. Officially described as new to science in 1995, it is known only from New Zealand, where it grows on rotting wood and twigs of southern beeches. Pleurotus purpureo-olivaceus is a gilled fungus native to Australia and New Zealand. It is found on dead wood of Nothofagus trees. Although morphologically similar to some other Pleurotus fungi, it has been shown to be a distinct species incapable of cross-breeding and phylogenetically removed from other species of Pleurotus. The caps of the fruit bodies are up to 7 cm (2.8 in) wide, and are dark violet to brown to olive to yellow-green, depending on light exposure. Stipes are lateral and white to yellow.

Rigidoporus laetus is a species of polypore fungus in the family Meripilaceae. It was originally described in 1883 as Polyporus laetus by Mordecai Cubitt Cooke. Peter Buchanan and Leif Ryvarden transferred it to Rigidoporus in 1988. Found in south Australia, the fungus is a plant pathogen that causes white rot in Eucalyptus.

Byssomerulius psittacinus is a species of crust fungus in the family Irpicaceae. It was described as new to science in 2000 by mycologists Peter Buchanan, Leif Ryvarden, and Masana Izawa. The type was found in Fiordland National Park, where it was growing on the dead wood of Nothofagus. The specific epithet psittacinus ("parrot-like") refers to the wide range of colours observed in the fruit bodies. Initially a striking reddish-purple when fresh, it dries to brownish orange, pale orange yellow, or pale orange.

Pleurotus velatus is a species of fungus in the genus Pleurotus first described in 1995, endemic to New Zealand.

Perenniporia podocarpi is a species of resupinate (encrusting) polypore. It occurs widely but uncommonly on the New Zealand endemic podocarps Dacrydium cupressinum and Prumnopitys taxifolia. Basidiocarps are dimitic and grow up to 9 cm across, thick and cushion-like with a distinctive white or very pale cream spore surface with large pores. The basidiospores are extremely large for the genus, up to 27 μm in length. As with other members of its genus, P. podocarpi causes a white rot in affected host plants.
