The Myxotrichaceae are a family of fungi in the Ascomycetes class, and has seven genera. Fungi in this family are mostly found in soil. Indoors, they can be found in paper substrates, damp drywall, and decomposing materials. They produce black, mesh-like, setose ascocarps with small, fusiform ascospores. Myxotrichum deflexum produces a pinkish-red diffusing pigment and may produce grey, black, and brown stains on paper surfaces. No reports of mycotoxins, pathogenicity, or allergy are known.

Nannizziopsis vreisii is a keratinophilic microfungus in the order Onygenales. Also included in this family are dematophytes and saprophytic species. While the ecology of N. vriessi is not well known, there has been several studies which identifies the Chrysosporium anamorph of N. vriesii as a causal agent of skin lesions in reptiles across several regions. This species is usually identified under a microscope by its white ascomata, and hyaline and globose ascospores . Quatsinoporites is an extinct monotypic genus of agaricomycete fungus in the Agaricomycetes family Hymenochaetaceae. At present it contains the single species Quatsinoporites cranhamii. The genus is solely known from the Barremian aged, Apple Bay deposits of northwestern Vancouver Island. Quatsinoporites is one of only three known fossil fungus species found on Vancouver Island and the only to be described from the Apple Bay strata. The agaricomycete Appianoporites vancouverensis was described from an Eocene fossil at the same time as Quatsinoporites , while a third fungus, Margaretbarromyces
