Abrothallus parmeliarum (Parmelia Abrothallus Lichen) (Sommerf.) Arnold 1874
fungi species in the abrothallaceae family
Abrothallus parmeliarum is a species of lichenicolous fungus. It grows on the thallus and apothecia (fruiting bodies) of Parmelia species. The fungus was first described scientifically by the Norwegian botanist Søren Christian Sommerfelt in 1826. In 2018, a proposal was made to conserve the name Lecidea parmeliarum (later Abrothallus parmeliarum), against Endocarpon parasiticum, an older basionym dating from 1814. The conservation was recommended in 2023 by the Nomenclature Committee for Fungi due to the widespread use and recognition of Abrothallus parmeliarum as a common lichenicolous

It was first formally described as a new species in 1826 by Søren Christian Sommerfelt, as Sphaeria lichenicola. David Leslie Hawksworth transferred it to the genus Muellerella in 1979. It has been reported growing on Caloplaca aurantia, Caloplaca saxicola and Physcia aipolia in Sicily, and on an unidentified crustose lichen in Iceland. In Mongolia, it has been reported growing on the thallus of a Biatora-lichen at 2,800 m (9,200 ft) elevation in the Bulgan district and on Aspicilia at 1,850 m (6,070

Bellemerea alpina (Alpine Brown Sunken Disk Lichen) (Sommerf.) Clauzade & Cl. Roux 1984
fungi species in the lecideaceae family
Bellemerea alpina, the brown sunken disk lichen, is a white to pale tan, thick crustose areolate lichen that grows on rock in the mountains worldwide. It grows in arctic-alpine habitats in Eurasia, North America (south to California and Arizona), Australia, and New Zealand. Areoles are sometimes contiguous and sometimes dispersed. It often has very visible black prothallus. The brown to tan apothecia have a purplish tinge and are grayed by a pruinose coating, and embedded in the areoles, giving a similar appearance to members of the genus Aspicilia.
