Leucopholiota decorosa (Decorated Pholiota) (Peck) O.K. Mill., T.J. Volk & Bessette 1996
edible fungi species in the order agaricales
Leucopholiota decorosa is a species of fungus in the mushroom family Squamanitaceae. It is commonly known as the decorated pholiota. It was first described by American mycologist Charles Horton Peck as Agaricus decorosus in 1873, and the species has been transferred to several genera in its history, including Tricholoma, Tricholomopsis, Armillaria, and Floccularia. Three American mycologists considered the species unique enough to warrant its own genus, and transferred it into the new genus Leucopholiota in a 1996 publication. It is distinguished by its fruit body which is covered with
Bridgeoporus nobilissimus (Noble Polypore) (W.B. Cooke) T.J. Volk, Burds. & Ammirati 1996
critically endangered fungi species
Bridgeoporus is a fungal genus in the family Polyporaceae. A monotypic genus, it contains the single polypore species Bridgeoporus nobilissimus, first described to science in 1949. Commonly known both as the noble polypore and the fuzzy Sandozi, this fungus produces large fruit bodies (or conks) that have been found to weigh up to 130 kilograms (290 lb). The upper surface of the fruit body has a fuzzy or fibrous texture that often supports the growth of algae, bryophytes, or vascular plants. This species is found in the Pacific Northwest region of North America where it grows on large (at
Morchella importuna (Landscaping Black Morel) M. Kuo, O'Donnell & T.J. Volk 2012
fungi species in the morchellaceae family
Morchella importuna is a species of fungus in the family Morchellaceae described from North America in 2012. It occurs in gardens, woodchip beds, and other urban settings of northern California and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and Canada. The fungus has also been reported from Turkey, Spain, France, Switzerland, Canada and China, although it is unknown whether this is a result of accidental introductions. It is considered a choice edible mushroom. The fruit bodies develop a distinctive ladder-like pattern of pits and ridges on the surface of their conical caps.
Leucopholiota (Romagn.) O.K. Mill., T.J. Volk & Bessette 1996
fungi genus
Leucopholiota is a genus of fungi in the family Squamanitaceae. Basidiocarps (fruit bodies) are agarics (gilled mushrooms}. Two species are currently known, both from north temperate areas: Leucopholiota decorosa and Leucopholiota lignicola.
Armillaria nabsnona T.J. Volk & Burds. 1996
fungi species in the physalacriaceae family
Armillaria nabsnona is a species of fungus in the family Physalacriaceae. The species is found in the west coast of North America, Hawaii, and Japan, where it grows on decaying hardwoods, particularly species of alder. Its fruit bodies have convex to flattened orange-brown caps up to 7 cm (2+3⁄4 inches) in diameter, brown stipes, and whitish to pinkish-tan gills.
