Ophiocordyceps unilateralis (Tul. & C. Tul.) Petch 1931
fungi species in the ophiocordycipitaceae family
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, commonly known as zombie-ant fungus, is an insect-pathogenic fungus, discovered by the British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace in 1859. Zombie ants, infected by the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus, are predominantly found in tropical rainforests. These fungi thrive in warm, humid environments, which are ideal for their growth and reproduction. However, they can also be found in warm-temperate forest systems. The fungus primarily targets ants from the tribe Camponotini, including carpenter ants (genus Camponotus). O. unilateralis infects ants of the tribe
Ophiocordyceps Petch 1931
fungi genus in the ophiocordycipitaceae family
Ophiocordyceps is a genus of fungi within the family Ophiocordycipitaceae. The widespread genus, first described scientifically by British mycologist Tom Petch in 1931, contains about 140 species that grow on insects. Anamorphic genera that correspond with Ophiocordyceps species are Hirsutella, Hymenostilbe, Isaria, Paraisaria, and Syngliocladium. One species complex, Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, is known for its parasitism on ants, in which it alters the behavior of the ants in such a way as to propagate itself more effectively, the parasite starts on the ground and comes in contact with an
Hymenostilbe Petch 1931
fungi genus in the ophiocordycipitaceae family
Hymenostilbe is a genus of fungi in the Ophiocordycipitaceae family. All members are anamorph names of Ophiocordyceps.
Poria hypobrunnea Petch 1916
fungi species in the polyporaceae family
Poria hypobrunnea is a plant pathogen infecting tea.
Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) Petch 1926
fungi species in the cordycipitaceae family
Beauveria brongniartii is an entomopathogenic ascomycete fungus prevalent in various ecosystems, including forest soils, alpine grasslands, and peat bogs. Known for its effectiveness against coleopteran pests, particularly the European cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha) and forest cockchafer (M. hippocastani), B. brongniartii has been widely adopted in biological control strategies across Europe, primarily within agriculture and forestry. Since the early 1990s, commercial formulations like Melocont, Pilzgerste (Agrifutur, Italy) and Beauveria–Schweizer (E. Schweizer Seeds, Switzerland) have
Armillaria fuscipes Petch 1909
fungi species in the physalacriaceae family
Armillaria fuscipes is a plant pathogen that causes Armillaria root rot on Pinus, coffee plants, tea and various hardwood trees. It is common in South Africa. The mycelium of the fungus is bioluminescent.
Tilachlidium brachiatum (Batsch) Petch 1941
fungi species in the tilachlidiaceae family

Punctularia atropurpurascens (Violet Crust) (Berk. & Broome) Petch 1916
fungi species in the punctulariaceae family
Punctularia atropurpurascens, also known as violet crust or purple fuzz, is a species of fungus. Purple fuzz is a saprotrophic crust fungus. The preferred nutrient source of purple fuzz is the wood of deciduous trees. Purple fuzz is prone to guttation and weeps red. Purple fuzz appears to be a fairly widespread fungus capable of adapting to a variety of climates.

Podonectria Petch 1921
fungi genus in the tubeufiaceae family
Podonectria is a genus in the monotypic Podonectriaceae family of fungi. They are parasitic fungus on scale insects, other fungi, or on substrates that had previously colonized by other fungi. The family of Podonectriaceae was introduced to accommodate genus Podonectria by Dao et al. in 2016. This was later confirmed by ITS and LSU data.

fungi species in the diaporthaceae family
Phomopsis theae is a fungal plant pathogen infecting tea.

Macrophoma theicola Petch 1917
fungi species in the botryosphaeriaceae family
Macrophoma theicola is a plant pathogen affecting Camellia sinensis, the tea plant, which is capable of reducing yields or killing plants altogether. Early symptoms include the browning and drooping of leaves. It is spread most easily in wet, rainy conditions.
