Cerinomyces G.W. Martin 1949
fungi genus in the cerinomycetaceae family
Cerinomyces is a genus of fungi in the order Dacrymycetales. Species are saprotrophs and occur on dead wood. As originally conceived, the genus comprised species of the Dacrymycetes having effused, corticioid basidiocarps (fruit bodies). Molecular research, based on cladistic analysis of DNA sequences, has however shown that this circumscription is not valid. As a result, the genus now contains some (but not all) species having corticioid basidiocarps and some additional species (previously referred to Dacrymyces) with gelatinous, pustular basidiocarps. Around 30 species have been described

First named Clitopilus abortivus by Miles Joseph Berkeley and Moses Ashley Curtis, it was given its current name by the Dutch mycologist Marinus Anton Donk in 1949. The grayish cap is up to 8 centimetres (3.1 in) wide. The stem is up to 9 cm long and 1.4 cm (1⁄2 in) thick. The smell is mealy and the spore print is pinkish. It was once believed that the honey mushroom, Armillaria mellea, was parasitizing the Entoloma, but research has indicated that the
