Alexander Fyodorovich Batalin (Russian: Алекса́ндр Фёдорович Бата́лин; 13 August 1847 – 13 October 1896) was a Russian botanist. He was the Chief Botanist and Director of the Imperial Botanical Garden in St. Petersburg. His patronimic has also been transliterated as Fedorovich and Theodorowicz. His father, Fyodor Batalin, gained renown for his two-volume work on the Caucasian Mineral Waters. After his father's death in 1895, Alexander briefly took over as editor of the Agricultural Gazette.

The leaves resemble those of the horse chestnut, hence the specific epithet aesculifolia (chestnut-leaved). This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Pterocarya macroptera, the large-winged wingnut, is a species of Pterocarya native to the temperate parts of China. It can be found in much of North Central, South Central and Southeast China as well as in the Tibetan area. On average, a tree grows to around 15-30 meters (49.2-98.4 ft). The species belongs to the section Platyptera within the genus Pterocarya, which also includes P. rhoifolia, P.insignis and P. delavayi. Some scientists consider P. insignis and P. delavayi to be varieties of Pterocarya macroptera. The species is vulnerable.

Roscoea tibetica is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the mountains of China, being found in Tibet, Sichuan and Yunnan. The species formerly included plants found in Bhutan; in 2000, these were separated into a new species, Roscoea bhutanica. Most members of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), to which it belongs, are tropical, but R. tibetica, like other species of Roscoea, grows in much colder mountainous regions. Prunus tatsienensis (Chinese: 康定樱桃) is a putative species of cherry native to Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces of China, typically found at 900–2600 m above sea level. It is a shrub or low tree 2–5 m tall. It differs from Prunus polytricha in that it has disciform apical glands in the margins of its bracts. This trait is not found in the original description and is not found in the type specimen, suggesting that it is conspecific with Prunus polytricha and with Prunus clarofolia, which also lacks sufficiently differing characters.
