Spirodela punctata (or Landoltia punctata, common name dotted duckmeat) is a species of duckweed (Lemnoideae). The species is morphologically intermediate between Lemna and other species of Spirodela. In 1999 D.H. Les and D.J. Crawford proposed segregating the species to a new genus Landoltia containing just the species L. punctata, on the basis of biochemical and DNA studies. S. punctata originally was found in Australia and South Asia, but today it can also be found in the Southern and Eastern United States.

Oecopetalum is a genus of flowering plants in the family Metteniusaceae, native to Mexico and Central America. They are trees with edible fruits, and prefer to grow in the transition zone between cloud forests and tropical forests. Locals collect, roast, consume and occasionally sell the fruit, which is bitter enough to give Oecopetalum mexicanum the name cachichín in the Totonaca language, meaning "bitter fruit".

Echeandia chandleri, also known as Chandler's craglily or lila de los llanos, is an endangered species of flowering plant endemic to southern Texas in the United States and adjacent Tamaulipas, Mexico. It is estimated to exist in less than 25 distinct sites, with under 100,000 individual plants left in the wild.
