Callitriche antarctica (Antarctic Water-starwort) Engelm. ex Hegelm. 1867
plant species in the plantaginaceae family
Callitriche antarctica, commonly known as the Antarctic water-starwort, is a small, prostrate plant with tiny yellow flowers in the family Plantaginaceae (though sometimes placed in its own family – Callitrichaceae). It is found in wet places on many subantarctic islands and has a wide circumantarctic distribution, something reflected in its specific epithet.
Wolffiella lingulata (Tongueshape Bogmat) (Hegelm.) Hegelm. 1895
annual plant species in the araceae family
Wolffiella lingulata is a species of flowering plant known by the common names tongueshape bogmat and tongueshape mud-midget. It is native to the Americas, where it is widely distributed and grows in calm water bodies such as ponds. It is a tiny plant made up a green frond measuring 3 to 9 millimeters wide. It often takes the form of a mother-daughter pair of fronds as it undergoes vegetative reproduction by budding. It may also undergo sexual reproduction by producing minute, microscopic flowers.
Wolffiella gladiata (Florida Mudmidget) (Hegelm.) Hegelm. 1895
annual plant species in the araceae family
Wolffiella gladiata, the Florida mudmidget, is an aquatic plant in the family Araceae. It is one of the smallest flowering plants known, a mere 3–9 mm long. It occurs in quiet waters in the states along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts of the United States from Texas to New Jersey plus in the states of the Ohio River Valley. Additional specimens have been collected from Massachusetts, Washington, and the Distrito Federal de México.
Wolffiella oblonga (Saber Bogmat) (Phil.) Hegelm. 1895
annual plant species in the araceae family
Wolffiella oblonga, the saber bogmat, is a species of flowering plant in the subfamily Lemnoideae, the duckweeds. It is native to tropical and subtropical South America, and to a few locales in North America; Panama, Costa Rica, central Mexico, and the US states of California, Louisiana, and Florida. A tiny elongate hydroannual, it prefers quiet waters with moderate nutrient levels.
