Beaucarnea recurvata, the elephant's foot or ponytail palm, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae. The species is endemic to eastern Mexico; according to IUCN it is now confined to the state of Veracruz, but Plants of the World Online also cites it as occurring in Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, and Tamaulipas. Despite its common name, it is not closely related to the true palms (Arecaceae). It has become popular in Europe and worldwide as an ornamental plant. There are 350-year-old Beaucarneas registered in Mexico.

Beaucarnea stricta is a tree in the family Asparagaceae, native to Mexico. The specific epithet stricta means "straight, thin", referring to the leaves.

Martiusella imperialis is a tropical tree of the family Sapotaceae native to eastern Brazil. It is the sole species in genus Martiusella. It is currently classified as an endangered species. Its fruits were very much appreciated by the first emperor of Brazil, Pedro I and his son Pedro II, who exported specimens of the tree as an offering to various botanical gardens around the world, including Sydney and Lisbon.
