Henry John Elwes, FRS (16 May 1846 – 26 November 1922) was a British botanist, entomologist, author, lepidopterist, collector and traveller who became renowned for collecting specimens of lilies during trips to the Himalaya and Korea. He was one of the first group of 60 people to receive the Victoria Medal of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1897. Author of Monograph of the Genus Lilium (1880), and The Trees of Great Britain & Ireland (1906–1913) with Augustine Henry, as well as numerous articles, he left a collection of 30,000 butterfly specimens to the Natural History Museum, including 11,

Lilium davidii is an Asian species of plants in the lily family, native to mountainous areas of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tibet, Bhutan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan. Lilium davidii grows up to 1.5m high, and bears up to about 20 unscented flowers with recurved tepals (bent backwards), orange or reddish orange, from July to August. The plant is cultivated for its edible bulb. It is a stem-rooting lily (adventitious roots emerging above the bulb) that also forms bulbils. The species is named for French missionary and naturalist Armand David (1826-1900).

Cedrus libani var. brevifolia, the Cyprus cedar, is a conifer in the genus Cedrus. It is native to the Troödos Mountains of central Cyprus. It grows in the Cedar Valley in Pafos State Forest. It grows in monotypic forest stands, particularly on mountain tops, and often in mixed forest stands with Pinus brutia, Quercus alnifolia, and Platanus orientalis, from 800 to 1,400 metres elevation.
