It is found in Colombia (Choco, Nariño, Valle del Cauca, and Amazonas departments) and the Pacific coast of Ecuador. It is named after the Czech botanist Benedikt Roezl. A single sperm cell from Zamia roezlii is about 0.4 mm in length and is visible to the unaided eye, being the world's largest plant sperm cell. It is propelled by 40,000 cilia. Philodendron melanochrysum is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, endemic to the wet Andean foothills of Colombia, growing at approximately 500m above sea level in the provinces of Chocó and Antioquia but widely cultivated elsewhere as an ornamental. The name suffix "melanochrysum" means "black gold" and refers to "tiny golden sparkles" sometimes observed when the leaves of the adult plant (which are dark, almost black) are in sunlight. Anthurium crystallinum is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, native to rainforest margins in Colombia and Panama. Growing to around 90 cm (35 in) tall and wide, A. crystallinum is an epiphytic perennial evergreen (in certain environments), known for its dark green and velvety-textured, heart-shaped leaves featuring prominent white veining, and somewhat resembles a smaller version of Anthurium magnificum. The inflorescence is a somewhat visually-undistinguished spathe with a pale green spadix (though ripening to red berries after pollination), appearing throughout the year.

Its foliage is green, and often has a single white stripe, along with red spotted backs of the leaves. Sodiro, who collected the type specimen for this species, described the red-mottled variant as maculata, but this variety is not scientifically accepted.
