John Firminger Duthie (1845–1922) was an English botanist and explorer. From 1875 to 1903 he was the Superintendent of Saharanpur Botanical Gardens. He collected plants in India, Nepal and adjacent countries and distributed several exsiccata-like specimen series among herbaria, one with the title Flora of North-Western India. His son was the British Army officer and cricketer Arthur Duthie.

Primula pulverulenta, the mealy primrose or mealy cowslip, is a species of flowering plant in the family Primulaceae. It is native to damp habitats in China. It is a herbaceous perennial growing to 100 cm (39 in) tall by 60 cm (24 in) broad, with strong stems of deep pink flowers arising from basal rosettes of leaves in early summer. The flowers are grouped at intervals along the stem in a tiered formation, hence the common name "candelabra primula" which is often applied to this and other species with a similar arrangement. The leaves are obovate to oblanceolate, measuring 10 - 30 cm long

Acer tutcheri, or Tutcher's maple, is a species of deciduous maple tree native to the Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, south Hunan, south Jiangxi, and south Zhejiang provinces of southern China, as well as Taiwan and certain districts of Hong Kong. William James Tutcher was credited with the first recorded observation of the species on Lantau Island in 1894.

Buddleja nivea Duthie 1905

Buddleja nivea is a vigorous shrub endemic to western China, evergreen in the wild, but deciduous in cultivation in the UK. The plant was discovered by Wilson in the Yangtze basin at altitudes of 700 – 3,600 m. Introduced to cultivation in 1901, it was named by Duthie in 1905. Several plants similar to the species but originally treated as species and varieties in their own right have now been sunk as B. nivea (see synonyms).
