Karl August Otto Hoffmann (25 October 1853 in Beeskow – 11 September 1909) was a German botanist and a high school teacher in Berlin. Author of Sertum plantarum madagascariensium, the genus Hoffmanniella in the family Asteraceae was named after him by Rudolf Schlechter. The only known species is Pechuel-loeschea leubnitziae, (or 'wild sage') which is native to Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the Cape Provinces and the Northern Provinces, (in South Africa). The Latin specific epithet of leubnitziae refers to Leubnitzia, the maiden name of Pechuel-Loesche's wife.
