Its most remarkable feature is the length of its internodes which can be up to 200 cm (6.6 ft) in the lowest internode, gradually diminishing as the culm ascends to a mature height of up to 18 m (59 ft). The young culms are covered with black hairs.

Holttumochloa magica is a species of bamboos native to the hill forests of Pahang in Peninsular Malaysia. It is the type species of its genus.

Singaporandia macrophylla (Hook.f.) K.M.Wong is a small tree of the family Rubiaceae. It is the only species in the genus Singaporandia. It occurs in lowland dipterocarp forest in Malaysia, Thailand and Sumatra. The genus name of Singaporandia refers to Singapore, where the plant was first found and also Isaac Rand (1674–1743), who was an English botanist and apothecary, who was a lecturer and director at the Chelsea Physic Garden, London. The genus and species were circumscribed by Khoon Meng Wong in Sandakania vol.21 on pages 53 and 54 in 2016.

Scaevola muluensis is a species of plant in the family Goodeniaceae. It is endemic to Borneo where it is confined to Sarawak. This plant was first described in 1993 by the botanist Khoon Meng Wong in the journal Sandakania.

Scaevola chanii is a species of plant in the family Goodeniaceae. It is endemic to Borneo where it is confined to Sabah. Scaevola chanii is a shrub or treelet which grows to 2 to 3 meters tall. Scaevola chanii is found only on the south face of Mount Kinabalu. It grows in upper montane rain forest on ultramafic soil, from 2,500 to 3,000 meters elevation.

Ridsdalea is an Asian genus of plants in the family Rubiaceae; it was named after Dr. Colin Ernest Ridsdale (1944–2017), who was an English botanist and specialist in tropical plants and the Rubiaceae family. The type species is Ridsdalea grandis (Korth.) J.T.Pereira, which was renamed from the basionym Gardenia grandis. Several other species have been reassigned from other genera: notably Rothmannia, which is now reserved for African species. Its native range is southern China, Indo-China, Malesia and New Guinea.
