plant subfamily in the poaceae family
The Puelioideae is a subfamily of the true grass family Poaceae with two genera, Guaduella and Puelia, each in its own tribe. Its members grow in the understory of rainforests. This subfamily is one of the earliest-diverging grass lineages, sister to the big BOP and PACMAD clades:
Pharoideae L.G.Clark & Judz. 1996
plant subfamily in the poaceae family
Pharoideae is a subfamily of the true grass family Poaceae, containing the single tribe Phareae with the two genera Leptaspis and Pharus. Its members grow on the shaded floors of tropical to warm temperate forests. This subfamily is one of the earliest-diverging grass lineages, older than the big BOP and PACMAD clades:
Cyperochloeae L.Watson & Dallwitz ex Sánchez-Ken & L.G.Clark 2010
plant tribe in the poaceae family
Cyperochloeae is a small tribe of grasses in the Panicoideae subfamily, found in Australia. It has only two species in two monotypic genera, Cyperochloa and Spartochloa. Cyperochloeae is sister to the tribe Thysanolaeneae. These two tribes, together with the Centotheceae, Steyermarkochloeae, Tristachyideae, Zeugiteae, and Chasmanthieae, form a monophyletic clade that is sister to the rest of the Panicoideae. They use the C3 photosynthetic pathway.
Chasmanthieae Sánchez-Ken & L.G.Clark 2010
plant tribe in the poaceae family
Chasmanthieae is a small tribe of grasses in the subfamily Panicoideae. It belongs to a basal lineage within the subfamily and has only seven species in two genera, Bromuniola with one species in Africa and Chasmanthium from North America. They all use the C3 photosynthetic pathway.
Zeugiteae Sánchez-Ken & L.G.Clark 2010
plant tribe in the poaceae family
Zeugiteae is a tribe of the subfamily Panicoideae in the grasses (Poaceae), native to Africa, Asia, Australasia, South and Central America. There are 18 species in four genera. Zeugiteae is sister to the tribe Chasmanthieae. These two tribes, together with the Cyperochloeae, Thysanolaeneae, Centotheceae, Steyermarkochloeae, and Tristachyideae form a monophyletic clade that is sister to the rest of the Panicoideae. Species in this tribe use the C3 photosynthetic pathway.

Arundinaria appalachiana (Hill Cane) Triplett, Weakley & L.G.Clark 2006
plant species in the poaceae family
Arundinaria appalachiana, commonly known as hill cane, is a woody bamboo native to the Appalachian Mountains in the southeastern United States. The plant was elevated to the species level in 2006 based on new morphological and genetic information and was previously treated as a variety of Arundinaria tecta. The shortest member of its genus, hill cane ranges from 0.4–1.8 metres (1 ft 4 in – 5 ft 11 in) tall with a habit ranging from diffuse to pluri-caespitose. It is one of only four temperate species of bamboo native to North America. Hill cane is common on dry to mesic sites on upland
