It is known only from coastal areas at low altitude and has been recorded from Dinagat, Samar, and a number of surrounding islets. It is closely allied to the N. alata group of species. It is known only from Mount Sumagaya and the Pantaron Mountain Range of central Mindanao, where it grows in lower and upper montane forest. On Mount Sumagaya it is sympatric with N. sumagaya and possible hybrids between these species have been recorded. Nepenthes pantaronensis is closely allied to N. petiolata and N. pulchra, both also from Mindanao.
