Nobuyuki Tanaka

Japanese botanist.

Nobuyuki Tanaka (田中 伸幸, Tanaka Nobuyuki) is an economic botanist at the Tokyo Metropolitan University, the Makino Botanical Garden in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. Tanaka is an expert on the family Cannaceae, and in 2001 published a revision of the family Cannaceae in the New World and Asia. Another contribution by Dr. Tanaka is to revise the Flora of Myanmar.

Myanmaranthus is a genus of flowering plants in the family Marantaceae. It includes a single species, Myanmaranthus roseiflorus, which endemic to Myanmar and known only from a single location in Kachin State. Sapria myanmarensis is a rare and endemic holoparasitic flowering plant related to Rafflesia found in Myanmar's northwestern part, in Kachin State and Sagaing Region. The species was similar to S. himalayana, but was distinguished due to its basally-distributed, white-colored warts on the vermilion perigone lobes, shorter perigone tubes, flat central disk with greater disk crest diameter, and crateriform ramenta. It was described in 2019.
