Zanthoxylum gilletii, the East African satinwood, is a tree species in the genus Zanthoxylum found in Africa. The fruits are used to produce the spice uzazi, which is the Nigerian (Igbo language) name of both the plant and the spice. It is native to Central and West Africa, and a close relative of the Sichuan pepper. "Uzazi" usually refers specifically to the spice made from its fruit and pericarp, though sometimes other parts of it such as its leaves are used.

Zanthoxylum psammophilum is a species of shrub or small tree in the family Rutaceae. It is a large liana endemic to Côte d'Ivoire, although in 2005 it was found in Liberia as well. Zanthoxylum psammophilum, a new combination created in 1975 to subsume the genus Fagara into the genus Zanthoxylum based on morphology and secondary metabolites, is the preferred name according to the Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques de la Ville de Genève which has a section that specializes in the conservation and biodiversity of flowering plants of Côte d'Ivoire. Zanthoxylum humile is a dense, deciduous Southern African suffrutex to 3 m tall and a member of the family Rutaceae. It occurs in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Kruger National Park, Limpopo Province, Mozambique and the southern part of Zimbabwe. It is one of some 195 species of Zanthoxylum, which have a worldwide distribution in warm, temperate and subtropical regions. Its branches and leaf rachides are pubescent to greyish tomentose, or becoming glabrous, with straight or recurved grey or reddish prickles. It is alternate and imparipinnate with 4-14 pairs of leaflets, the leaves being 4–16 cm

Zanthoxylum holtzianum is a species of plant in the family Rutaceae. It is endemic to Tanzania.

Zanthoxylum davyi, the forest knobwood, is a dioecious species of plant in the family Rutaceae. It is native to the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces of South Africa, western Eswatini and eastern Zimbabwe. It occurs in coastal and mistbelt forests, and grows some 10 to 24 m tall.

Zanthoxylum atchoum (synonym Fagara atchoum) is a forest tree in the family Rutaceae that grows in Côte d'Ivoire's Eastern Guinean forests. It is endemic to Côte d'Ivoire where it is threatened by habitat loss. Waterman assigned Z. atchoum to this combination after morphological and secondary metabolite evidence revealed that Fagara should be subsumed in Zanthoxylum.
