Triticum timopheevii, Timopheev's wheat or Zanduri wheat (from Georgian ზანდური), is a tetraploid wheat that has both cultivated and wild forms. It is believed to have evolved in isolation from the more common Triticum turgidum; hybrids between T. timopheevii and T. turgidum are reportedly sterile with "a considerable amount of chromosomal irregularities in meiosis." The wild form (formerly categorized as T. araraticum Jakubz.) can be found across south-eastern Turkey, north Iraq, west Iran and Transcaucasia - but the domesticated form is restricted to western Georgia.

Aegilops columnaris (syn. Triticum columnare (Zhuk.) Morris & Sears, comb. nov.) is a species in the family Poaceae.

Aegilops umbellulata, the umbel goatgrass, is an annual grass that is closesly related to wheat. It is native to southeastern Europe (including the East Aegean Islands), Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, the Transcaucasus, and Turkey. The hybridisation between this species and wheat is known to produce rust resistant plants.

Secale segetale, the weed rye, is a species of flowering plant in the family Poaceae. It has a nearly Irano-Turanian distribution; the Caucasus, Iraq, Iran, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the western Himalayas, and Xinjiang. An annual reaching 100 cm (39 in), it is typically found as a weed in wheat fields. It can be distinguished from rye (Secale cereale) by its fragile rachis.
