Thomas Croxen Archer

British botanist and museum director (1817-1885).

Thomas Croxen Archer FRSE FSA FRSSA (28 November 1817 – 19 February 1885) was a British botanist, and from 1860 was Director of the Industrial Museum of Scotland, renamed the Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art in 1864, a post he held until his death in 1885 (the museum has since been merged into the National Museum of Scotland). The standard author abbreviation Archer is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name.
