Carex praegracilis is a species of North American sedge known as clustered field sedge, field sedge, and expressway sedge. Carex praegracilis is cultivated in the specialty horticulture trade as lawn substitute and meadow-like plantings.

Carex nudata is a species of true sedge known by several common names, including torrent sedge, California black-flowering sedge, Dudley's sedge, and naked sedge.

Carex lemmonii, or Lemmon's sedge, is a plant in the sedge family, and is endemic to California. Carex albida (binomial authority L.H.Bailey) is now considered a synonym, but was previously thought to be a separate species; such plants have the common name white sedge.

Carex assiniboinensis, commonly known as the assiniboia sedge, is a species of sedge (Carex) in the section Hymenochlaenae. First described scientifically in 1884 by American botanist William Boott, it is found in Canada and the United States, where it grows in floodplain forests, old river channels, riparian woodlands, and shrub thickets.

Rhynchospora harveyi, commonly known as Harvey's beaksedge, is a perennial graminoid in the sedge family native to the Southern United States.

Carex subfusca, variously called the rusty slender sedge, rusty sedge, or brown sedge, is a species of flowering plant in the family Cyperaceae, native to the Hawaiian Islands, the western United States, and Baja California. It is surmised that it came to Hawaii by being deposited by a bird (epizoochory).
