Pinus krempfii, or Krempf's pine, is a rare species of pine, endemic to the central highlands of Vietnam in the Da Lat–Nha Trang area. It is unusual in that it has flat needles. Because of this anomaly, it is put in its own subsection, the Krempfianae. In adult trees these needles are up to 4 mm (0.16 in) wide, "but much larger on juveniles". The tree is a rainforest emergent to 55 m (180 ft) in height and up to 2 m (6 ft 7 in) DBH.

It is an endemic species of Thailand, first discovered in the Khao Phra Thaew reserve on 11 March 1929 and described as a new genus and species in 1983. It is dioecious, with separate male and female plants. The genus name of Kerriodoxa is in honour of Arthur Francis George Kerr (1877–1942), an Irish medical doctor.

Saigon cinnamon (Cinnamomum loureiroi, also known as Vietnamese cinnamon or Vietnamese cassia and quế trà my, quế thanh, or " quế trà bồng" in Vietnam) is an evergreen tree indigenous to mainland Southeast Asia. Saigon cinnamon is more closely related to cassia (C. cassia) than to Ceylon cinnamon (C. verum), though in the same genus as both. Saigon cinnamon has 1–5% essential oil content and 25% cinnamaldehyde in essential oil. Consequently, among the species, Saigon cinnamon commands a relatively high price.
