Flora of East Himalaya

Cupressus cashmeriana, the Bhutan cypress or Kashmir cypress, is a species of evergreen conifer native to the eastern Himalaya in Bhutan and adjacent areas of Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India. [ Now in vulnerable category, IUCN list retrieved in 2006 ]. It is also introduced in China and Nepal. It grows at moderately high altitudes of 1,250–2,800 metres (4,100–9,190 ft).

Mangifera acutigemma is a species of plant in the family Anacardiaceae. It is endemic to Sikkim in India.

Bulbophyllum cylindricum is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae. It is found in Sikkim.

Amentotaxus assamica is a species of conifer in the family Taxaceae. It is found only in India. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Allium rhabdotum is a species of flowering plant endemic to Bhutan.

Hopea shingkeng was a species of plant in the family Dipterocarpaceae. It was endemic to the eastern Himalayan region of India. "Flora of China" reports the species from southeast Tibet. Nevertheless, the reported elevational range (300–600 metres (980–1,970 ft)) makes this record suspect. The species is not listed among the protected plants of China.

Rhododendron kesangiae is a rhododendron species endemic to Bhutan, where it grows at altitudes of 2,890–3,450 m (9,480–11,320 ft) in the fir and hemlock forests. It is called Tala (ཏ་ལ) in Dzongkha. It is a large shrub or tree that typically grows to 15 m (49 ft) in height, with leaves that are broadly elliptic to almost obovate, and 20–30 cm (7.9–11.8 in) long by 10–16 cm (3.9–6.3 in) broad. The flowers are rose pink, fading to purple.

Musa mannii is a species of plant in the family Musaceae endemic to Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Trachycarpus latisectus (formerly Trachycarpus sikkimensis ined.) is an attractive palm tree with large leathery leaves with exceptionally wide segments and a thick, bare and ringed trunk. Its fan-shaped leaves resemble those of Livistona. It has a bare trunk and its seeds resemble those of T. martianus. Trachycarpus latisectus is commonly known as Windamere palm, for the locality where its first botanical description was made, the garden of the famous Windamere Hotel in Darjeeling, India. It was formally photographed and collected for the first time only in 1992 during the Royal Botanic

Rhododendron subansiriense is a species of flowering plant in the family Ericaceae, endemic to the Subansiri district of northeastern India. Growing to 14 m (46 ft) in the wild, it has dense trusses of red flowers spotted with purple. It is rarely found in cultivation in temperate zones, as it is susceptible to late frosts.

Papilionanthe greenii is a species of epiphytic orchid native to Bhutan.

Hoya bhutanica is a species of epiphytic climbing shrub endemic to Bhutan. It is currently classified as endangered in the IUCN Red List.

Dendrobium nareshbahadurii is a critically endangered species of orchid found only in Arunachal Pradesh of India.

Buddleja bhutanica is a species of flowering shrub endemic to Bhutan, where it grows in bush on mountain slopes at elevations around 1,700 m. The shrub was first described and named by Yamazaki in 1971.

Biermannia jainiana is a critically endangered species of orchid found only in Arunachal Pradesh of India.

Primula chasmophila is a species of flowering plant in the Primulaceae family. It is endemic to Bhutan.

Musa griersonii is a species of wild banana (genus Musa). It is endemic to Bhutan.

Eulophia stenopetala is a species of orchid endemic to Bhutan. The only material on this species from Bhutan is the holotype specimen collected by William Griffith in Bhutan in 1838 and resides at the Kew Herbarium with catalogue number K000852991. Another specimen without any information on its location is also available at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center with catalogue number U.1466607. The plant is currently considered extinct as numerous attempts to find it in the type locality failed.

Cyperus sikkimensis is a species of sedge that is endemic to Sikkim state of India in the eastern Himalaya. The species was first formally described by the botanist Georg Kükenthal in 1936.

Carex parvigluma is a tussock-forming species of perennial sedge in the family Cyperaceae. It is native to Arunachal Pradesh in north eastern India in the eastern part of the Himalayas.

Cardamine gouldii is a plant species endemic to Bhutan. It is known only from a single specimen in the herbarium of Kew Botanic Garden in London, collected in 1938 in the Bumthang District. Cardamine gouldii is a perennial herb. Middle leaves have 5 leaflets, upper leaves have 3 leaflets. Petiole is 1–3 cm long, slightly winged, not auriculate. Leaflets are oblong to lanceolate, up to 5 cm long. Flowers white, with oblong petals up to 15 mm long.

Artemisia bhutanica is a species of mugwort endemic to Bhutan in the eastern Himalayas.

Prunus harae is a species of flowering plant in the family Rosaceae, native to Bhutan. A small tree that is similar to Prunus rufa, the Himalayan cherry, it typically found growing at 2,500 to 3,200 m (8,200 to 10,500 ft) above sea level.

Hedychium griersonianum is a monocotyledonous plant species described by Rosemary Margaret Smith. Hedychium griersonianum is part of the genus Hedychium and the family Zingiberaceae. No subspecies are listed in the Catalog of Life.

Bambusa clavata is a species of Bambusa bamboo.

Amblyanthopsis bhotanica is a species of flowering plant in the primrose family (Primulaceae). It is native to Bhutan. Amblyanthopsis bhotanica was first formally described as Ardisia bhotanica in 1882 by Charles Baron Clarke. It was transferred to the genus Amblyanthopsis by Carl Christian Mez in 1902. It is one of three species in that genus.
