Flora of Trinidad-Tobago

Podocarpus trinitensis is a species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae. It is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago, where it has only been recorded from the island of Trinidad. It has been recorded from 13 distinct localities in Trinidad, including sites in the Central Range and in central and eastern areas of the Northern Range.

Aristolochia boosii is a species of woody vine in the Aristolochiaceae plant family which is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago. Known only from a few locations in southern Trinidad, the species was first collected by Julius Boos in 1977. After determining that it was new to science, the species was described by Jacqueline Anne Panter in 1981 and named for its discoverer. Although Aristolochia boosii is not listed in the IUCN Red List, the authors of a 2008 assessment of the endemic plant species of Trinidad and Tobago considered it endangered because it is only known from three localities, and

Duguetia tobagensis is a small tree in the plant family Annonaceae which is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago. The species is only known from Tobago.

Justicia tobagensis is a species of plant in the family Acanthaceae which is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago. The species is only known from two areas in the Main Ridge of Tobago. It was first described as Drejerella tobagensis by German botanist Ignatz Urban in his Symbolae Antillanae, based on a collection made by Danish botanist Henrik von Eggers. In 1995 American botanist Dieter C. Wasshausen proposed a new combination, Justicia tobagensis, which reflected the predominant view that the genus Drejerella is actually a part of the genus Justicia.

Justicia flaviflora is a species of herbaceous plant in the family Acanthaceae. It was previously classified as Beloperone flaviflora. The species is endemic to the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean republic of Trinidad and Tobago where it is only known from near the peaks of mountains in the Northern Range. It is an erect herb with leaves up to 27 cm (11 in) long. It is suffering from habitat degradation and has become increasingly rare, being now rated as "critically endangered".

Dicliptera aripoensis is a species of plant in the family Acanthaceae which is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago. The species is only known from the Heights of Aripo, in Trinidad's Northern Range. It is a branching shrub, 1–1.5 m tall with red flowers about 3 cm long. The species was described as Diapedium aripoense by American botanist Nathaniel Lord Britton in 1926, based on a collection made by Walter Elias Broadway in 1922. American botanist Emery Clarence Leonard transferred the species to the genus Dicliptera in 1954.

Philodendron simmondsii is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, endemic to Trinidad. A climber, it is known from only four stations in the wet tropical forest of Trinidad, and is assessed as Endangered.

Odontonema brevipes is a species of plant in the family Acanthaceae which is endemic to Trinidad and Tobago. The species is only known from four localities in the Main Ridge of Tobago. It was described by German botanist Ignatz Urban in his Symbolae Antillanae, based on collections made by Danish botanist Henrik von Eggers and English-born Trinidadian botanist Walter Elias Broadway.

Marthella is a genus of flowering plants in the Burmanniaceae, first described as a genus in 1903. It contains only one known species, Marthella trinitatis, endemic to the Island of Trinidad. It is considered critically endangered and only naturally appears in Northern Range Forest Reserve Section B. As a conservation measure, it is being cared for in the Heights of Aripo Village as a form of ex situ conservation.

Cattleya gaskelliana is a labiate Cattleya species of orchid. The diploid chromosome number of C. gaskelliana has been determined as 2n = 40. This species is endangered due to its habitat being wiped out by things like urbanization and mining. It also is overly extracted for commercial use. Because of its low breeding success (5% of seeds being germinated and even less making it to adulthood), it is important to find ways to help conserve this plant. One way is by studying ways to improve vitro propagation.

Euterpe broadwayi, the manac, or manicol, is a tall, slender-stemmed, pinnate-leaved palm native to Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica. Stems usually grow in a cluster and are 8–20 metres tall and 20–25 centimetres in diameter and bear 10–16 leaves. It is sometimes harvested for palm heart.

Aechmea dichlamydea is a species of bromeliad in the genus Aechmea. This species is native to Venezuela and to Trinidad and Tobago.

Isotheca is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Acanthaceae. The only species is Isotheca alba. It is a subshrub native to Mount Aripo on Trinidad and to northeastern Venezuela.

Tabernaemontana oppositifolia is a species of plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is endemic to Puerto Rico.

Peperomia trifolia is a species of plant in the genus Peperomia. Its native range covers the Lesser Antilles and Trinidad.

Epidendrum difforme (the "Differently Formed Epidendrum") is a species of orchid in the genus Epidendrum. In 1861, Müller classified this species in the subsection Umbellata of the section Planifolia of subgenus Euepidendrum Lindl. of the genus Epidendrum. The diploid chromosome number of E. difforme has been determined both as 2n = 40 and as 2n = 39.

Bulbophyllum kegelii is a species of flowering plant in the family Orchidaceae.

Aechmea fendleri is a species of bromeliad in the genus Aechmea. This species is native to Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.

Rogersonanthus is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Gentianaceae. Its native range is Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela in northern South America. The genus name of Rogersonanthus is in honour of Clark Thomas Rogerson (1918–2001), an American mycologist. It was first described and published in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. Vol.51 on page 3 in 1989. Danaea kalevala is a species of fern belonging to the family Marattiaceae. It is endemic to rainforests of the Lesser Antilles islands in the Caribbean. This includes the islands of: Saint Kitts, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Saint Vincent, and Grenada.

Solanum tobagense is a species of plant in the family Solanaceae. It is found in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.

Pouteria pallida is a species of plant in the family Sapotaceae. It is found in Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Saint Lucia.

Pitcairnia integrifolia is a plant species in the genus Pitcairnia. This species is native to Venezuela, Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.

Guzmania megastachya is a species of plant in the genus Guzmania. It is an epiphyte and is a part of the family Bromeliaceae.

Glomeropitcairnia erectiflora is a plant species in the genus Glomeropitcairnia in the family Bromeliaceae. This epiphytic tank bromeliad species is native to Venezuela and to the island of Trinidad, occurring in montane and elfin cloud forests. It is used by tree frog Phytotriades auratus as a refuge and nesting site. The inflorescence can rise 2.7 m (8 ft 10 in) above the rosette of waxy, broad linear leaves.

Ruyschia clusiifolia is a species of flowering plant in the family Marcgraviaceae. The species is endemic to the Lesser Antilles.

Copaifera panamensis, commonly known as the Cabimo is a species of flowering plant in the pea family, Fabaceae, that is endemic to Panama. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Freziera undulata is a species of flowering plants in the family Pentaphylacaceae. It is found in the Caribbean (Dominica, Guadeloupe, Saba, St. Kitts, Grenada, Martinique, St. Vincent).

Pilosocereus moritzianus is a species of flowering plant in the cactus family Cactaceae, native to Trinidad and Tobago and the Venezuelan Antilles in the Caribbean and to Venezuela in northern South America. It was first described in 1837 as Cereus moritzianus. It was subsequently placed in the genus Cephalocereus before being moved to Pilosocereus in 1957. It has also been treated as a subspecies of Pilosocereus lanuginosus, P. lanuginosus subsp. moritzianus.

Codonanthopsis caribaea is a species of flowering plant in the family Gesneriaceae. This species is native to Guadeloupe to North Venezuela, and is a epiphyte and mainly grows in wet tropical biomes. Codonanthopsis caribaea, along with other species in its genus, was first published in 2013.
