It is native to tropical rainforests and gallery forests in northern and northeastern Queensland coasts and the Northern Territory of Australia, as well as New Guinea and Java. Common names include Australian umbrella tree, Queensland umbrella tree, octopus tree and amate.

Selenicereus costaricensis, also known as Costa Rica nightblooming cactus or Costa Rican pitaya, is a perennial climbing succulent in the cactus family (Cactaceae). Its fruit, a type of pitaya (dragon fruit), has high economic and nutritional value. The species is native to Central America and northwestern South America, ranging from Nicaragua to northern Peru in seasonally dry tropical biomes.

Tiganophytaceae is a family in the plant order Brassicales, consisting of the sole monotypic genus, Tiganophyton, represented by Tiganophyton karasense. The family is endemic to Namibia, occurring in three populations in the arid Karas Region of southern Namibia. It is one of two families endemic to the Namib desert, the other being Welwitschiaceae. The species, genus and family were unknown prior to 2010 when it was discovered in the Karas Region.

It occurs in the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland, in wet eucalyptus forest or around the margins of rainforest. Ferdinand von Mueller first described it in 1859, as Senecio amygdalifolius, from a collection made by Dr. Hermann Beckler, near the Hastings River.

Nepenthes longiptera is a tropical pitcher plant endemic to the province of Aceh in the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. Nepenthes longiptera differs from all other Nepenthes species from Sumatra by the presence of wings on its upper pitchers. Morphologically, this species closely resembled N. tobaica, but differs on its much larger habit, the well-developed wings of its upper pitchers, the rhomboid-shaped cross-section of the stem, and the presence of appendage under the lid. The presence of putative hybrid with sympatric species was also recorded.

The species' description was published in Webbia together with N. latiffiana, and it is one of the latest three new Malayan species described in the same year (the third species is N. malayensis). These discoveries have now made Peninsular Malaysia home to 15 species of Nepenthes. Nepenthes domei is listed in the International Plant Names Index (IPNI) and named in honour of the first person who discovered the population, Mr. Dome Nikong.
