Thamnolia taurica is a species of lichen in the family Icmadophilaceae. This alpine lichen forms pale, worm-like structures and occurs in high mountain habitats of the eastern Alps, Tatra Mountains, and western Carpathians. Molecular studies have shown it to be genetically distinct from other whiteworm lichens, having diverged from related lineages between 0.6 and 4.1 million years ago....read more on Wikipedia.
