Flora of Côte d'Ivoire

Argocoffeopsis lemblinii is an extinct relative of the coffee plant, within the family Rubiaceae. It is only known from the holotype collected by French botanist Auguste Jean Baptiste Chevalier in January 1907 in the valley of the Agnéby river in Côte d'Ivoire, and was not found during subsequent surveys. Argocoffeopsis lemblinii was a much branched shrub which could reach a height of about 50 centimetres. The flowers were white, the small fruits spheroid. It grew in a forest habitat.

Bulbophyllum danii is a species of orchid in the genus Bulbophyllum.

Zanthoxylum psammophilum is a species of shrub or small tree in the family Rutaceae. It is a large liana endemic to Côte d'Ivoire, although in 2005 it was found in Liberia as well. Zanthoxylum psammophilum, a new combination created in 1975 to subsume the genus Fagara into the genus Zanthoxylum based on morphology and secondary metabolites, is the preferred name according to the Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques de la Ville de Genève which has a section that specializes in the conservation and biodiversity of flowering plants of Côte d'Ivoire. Zanthoxylum atchoum (synonym Fagara atchoum) is a forest tree in the family Rutaceae that grows in Côte d'Ivoire's Eastern Guinean forests. It is endemic to Côte d'Ivoire where it is threatened by habitat loss. Waterman assigned Z. atchoum to this combination after morphological and secondary metabolite evidence revealed that Fagara should be subsumed in Zanthoxylum.

Ayenia ivorensis is a tree in the family Malvaceae that is now classified as extinct. It was identified from a single herbarium specimen collected in the Upper Guinean forests of Ivory Coast.

Hymenostegia gracilipes is a small to medium riparian and rainforest tree in the family Fabaceae. It is endemic to Ghana, where it is threatened by habitat loss due to its growth in primary rainforests, although it is locally common.

Cassipourea hiotou is a species of plant in the Rhizophoraceae family found in Ivory Coast and Ghana. The species grows naturally in the well-shaded, to wet evergreen forests on the land region lying between the Cavally and Sassandra rivers. Although the extent of these forests has been significantly reduced (due to the expansion of industrial plantations, mining interests and over-logging), it can be locally common.

Strychnos millepunctata is a species of shrub or small tree in the Loganiaceae family. It is endemic to Côte d'Ivoire and grows in the lowland Eastern Guinean forests where it is threatened by habitat loss. S. millepunctata has been investigated for pharmacological properties of its alkaloids.

G. zaizou is a commercial hardwood species that is well-adapted to the heavy rainfall of western Africa. Wood from this species of tree is also used locally to make barred percussion instruments.
