It is commonly known as Lapland rosebay, rhododendron de Laponie in French-speaking Canada, qijjuttaaqpait tipilitt (ᕿᔾᔪᑦᑖᖅᐸᐃᑦ ᑎᐱᓕᑦᑦ) in Inuktitut-speaking regions of Canada, and gāoshān dùjuān (高山杜鹃) in China.
