The species is native to Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe. In South Africa, the plant occurs in KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, more specifically from the north of KwaZulu-Natal, along the Lebombo Mountains to the Limpopo River Valley.
